Usama bin Ladin speaks

UPDATED
Just saw this on the BBC and AlJazeera… apparently there is a new video from him. Definitely current because he makes comments on the US election.

Will this have an affect on the US election? Very hard to say. The Candidates may choose to ignore it (quite understandably)… we’ll see.

AlJazeera was provided with the video tape and will be posting an English subtitled version on their english website.

Here’s is Aljazeera in English

If possible, I will download the video to my website so that you can get it from here as I would think there will be limited bandwidth available from AlJazeera (making the video potentially very slow/choppy).

Stay tuned…

Is this related?
An “American Al-Qaida” group is threatening attacks on the US in the near future.

It seems with every passing moment the decision of the American people on Tuesday becomes more and more important, more pressing, more dire.

I hope their choice is a good one for all.

Addition

As promised, AlJazeera has now posted more of the original source footage and a transcript. You can download both from my site.

The Video is “zipped” so that you must download to your computer… and first ‘unzip’ it then view the file in Windows Media Player. This should all be automatic on Windows XP.. if you have any problems please leave a comment.

Download Oct 29 Bin Laden Video (with english subtitles)

You can also grab the Transcript… I’ve simply “printed” the AlJazeera website page to a PDF file. You should be able to view it directly in your browser, or with Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Patriot Act affects BC residents

Today, the Privacy Commissioner of British Columbia came out with a report on the BC Governments plan to allow American companies to handle BC citizens medical records. Normally this wouldn’t be seen as a problem, but with the frightening power of the Patriot Act, the private information of law abiding citizens in BC is open to viewing by US law enforcement agencies.

The CBC Reports

B.C Privacy Commissioner David Loukidelis says the U.S. Patriot Act violates provincial privacy laws – and he wants the province to temporarily ban the transfer of personal information to the US.

… Loukidelis says the ban is needed because British Columbians’ medical information could be disclosed to the U.S. government under the Patriot Act, without people here ever knowing it happened. He says this violates our own privacy laws

You can view or download the summary and full report here:

Ooh Sleeping One: 11lbs 10oz!

We got an official weight from the doctor yesterday!

11lbs 10oz! Not bad for being 5 months and 8 days old!

Jade is continuing, obviously, to grow and thrive. She is very active now, especially in the mornings. She has actually been sleeping for 6-7 hour stints at night now! This makes Mom very happy. Last night she slept from 8 til 11:30..then didn’t wake again until 5:30AM.

We’re getting ready to feed her her first Real food, I’ll have pictures when we do. We have a couple jars of sweet potatoe. I wonder if she’ll like them… apparently I wouldn’t eat the stuff when i was her age. My mom had to blender-ize the real stuff for me so that I’d eat it.

Anyway, I can’t write too long, so I’m off.

Talk to you again soon!

Chris

And remember about my new site, MurkyView. www.murkyview.com please feel free to come over and have a chat abou things!

Weapon of Mass Destruction

As is so often the case… political and social upheaval is often accompanied by popular music.

This song has been playing on our local Top-20 radio station over the past few months. His lyrics resonate to both “sides”.

(Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you’re soar away sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruc
You could a Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction)

My dad came into my room holding his hat
I knew he was leaving,
he sat on my bed told me some facts, son.
I have a duty, calling on me
You and your sister be brave my little soldier
And don’t forget all I told ya
Your the mister of the house now remember this
And when you wake up in the morning give ya momma a kiss
Then I had to say goodbye

In the morning woke momma with a kiss on each eyelid,
Even though I’m only a kid
Certain things can’t be hid
Momma grabbed me
Held me like I was made of gold
But left her inner stories untold
I said, momma it will be alright
When daddy comes home, tonight

CHORUS

Whether long range weapon or suicide bomber
Wicked mind is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether you’re soar away sun or BBC 1
Misinformation is a weapon of mass destruc
You could a Caucasian or a poor Asian
Racism is a weapon of mass destruction
Whether inflation or globalization
Fear is a weapon of mass destruction

Whether Halliburton or Enron or anyone
Greed is a weapon of mass destruction

We need to find courage, overcome
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction
Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction

The skin under my chin
is exploding, again.
I’m getting stress from some other children.
I’m holding it in, we taking sides, like a politian
an if I get friction we get to fightin.
I defend my dad he’s the best of all men
an whatever he’s doin he’s doin the right thing.
Its frightenin but it makes me mad, why do all
of these people seem to hate my dad?
an if that ain’t enough, now I’ve got these spots.
I go to sleep every night with my stomach in knots.
and whats more I can hear Mama next door
explore the radio for reports of war.
and all we ever seem to do is hide the tears,
seems Daddy been gone for years.
But he was right, now I’m geared up for the fight
an he would be proud of me if Daddy came home tonight.

CHORUS

My story stops here, lets be clear
This scenario is happening everywhere
And you ain’t going to nirvana or farvana
You’re coming right back here to live out your karma
With even more drama than previously, seriously
Just how many centuries have we been
waiting for someone else to make us free
And we refuse to see
That people overseas suffer just like we
Bad leadership and ego’s unfettered and free
Who feed on the people they’re supposed to lead
I don’t need good people to pray and wait
For the lord to make it all straight
There’s only now, do it right.
Cos I don’t want your daddy, leaving home tonight
