  1. Good on you, Chris. Some of us have been kicking some of these ideas around in an informal way, but the general frame of mind right now is not particularly receptive to abandoning the wasteful way we live. There was a seven year old boy at a gathering Saturday night, and he couldn’t wait to get home to his ATV. Nice kid, but like many kids and their parents, he’s locked in to consumption, mobility and a life removed from the nature in the midst of which he lives. Let me know when you’re giving the presentation, though Monday nights generally aren’t good if it’s before 8:00. I’ll perhaps try to bring some of the other people who would want to support your presentation.

I also ordered a bunch of seed garlic so I can tear up another patch of lawn. I’ll have to show your mother your proposals, as I think she’s wondering whether or not I’ve gone off my rocker.

    Be well.

    Dan

  2. I would be very interested to know how your report goes. My grandparents had a Victory Garden during World War II. We should certainly have the capability to revive these if needed. It sounds like Port Alberni may be in an ideal position to show, at least in many ways, how a sustainable society can work.
